LAUREL RUN â Following last weekâs fatal crash on Laurel Run Road involving a concrete-mixing truck, residents are demanding more flashing lights and new signage on the windy, steep road.
One resident launched the petition at change.org, asking the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to do more to alert big truck drivers to avoid the road.
âOur residents have had it,â Mayor Justin Correll said. âEveryone in the town is fired up.â
Authorities said Louis Robert Walkowiak, 62, was killed Jan. 11 in a crash with a concrete-mixing truck about a mile from his house.
Walkowskiâs obituary said he was âon his way home from his daily trip down the mountain to get his coffee from Turkey Hill.â
